Hey, I'm Beril!

I believe in the transformative power of integrating mindfulness practices, emotional intelligence, and the knowledge of neuroscience. These three pillars form a powerful foundation for our personal growth ,well-being and performance. Moreover, they also play a crucial role in elevating business performance and nurturing a thriving team culture within organizations.

Mindfulness, supported by neuroscience, is a remarkable brain-training tool, as scientific research continually validates its numerous benefits. I have experienced with my daughter that the skills required for parenting, leadership in organizations, and nurturing personal relationships are fundamentally interconnected. When we develop these skills and cultivate mindfulness and emotional intelligence, we experience transformation in all areas simultaneously.

Throughout my career ,I have come to realize that business success and performance are driven by people, and the key to leadership and high performing teams lies in fostering genuine connections.

By developing a deep understanding of our own minds and emotions, we can authentically connect with ourselves and those around us, fostering compassion and empathy. This profound connection to our inner selves and the world allows us to find greater fulfillment, clarity of purpose, and a sense of joy in the present moment.

I feel a profound sense of self-connection during coaching and working with teams, as it allows me to do what I truly love. Just as meaningful are the moments spent with loved ones, especially my daughter. Alongside these experiences, I also find a strong sense of connection through activities like swimming in the ocean, doing yoga, listening to music, painting, learning, and exploring new things.

My intention is to inspire teams, organizations, leaders, and individuals I can reach to develop a deeper connection with themselves, their purpose, and the people around them.

My Background: 20 Years of Managerial Experience in International Organizations

I hold a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Management from Middle East Technical University (METU) and am certified as a CMA (Certified Management Accountant). Much of my work experience for the last 20 years consists of roles that I have held in international organizations namely, Arthur Andersen, Ernst & Young, Nestle and DS Smith. Within the past 17 years I have undertaken leadership positions, recently as CFO and as Chairman of the Board.

My Journey to Mindfulness Coaching

I have benefited from the coaching tools in all areas of business such as inclusivity, engagement, performance, team culture and stakeholder communication. I received coaching for managers trainings throughout my roles as well as other leadership trainings. Coaching knowledge in leadership roles made a big shift for me and later I joined Adler International Learning and International Coaching Federation(ICF) to further develop my skills. I have been certified by Adler International as an ICF Coach since 2015.
As I gained more experience in coaching, I felt the need to integrate Embodied Presence for deeper connection within my coaching practice. To learn and practice these skills I attended  Mindfulness Coaching Program by Breathing Mind, accredited by ICF. Since 2019 I have been practicing Mindfulness Coaching and Mentoring. Currently I am accredited ICF ACC coach.

Mindfulness and Compassion

Furthermore, I have pursued a profound exploration of the neuroscience underlying mindfulness and compassion through the Mindfulness and Compassion Teacher Program offered by Breathing Mind. This program holds accreditation from the International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA). As of 2022, I hold the certification of  Mindfulness and Compassion Teacher and entitled to give 8 week MCP program. Armed with this qualification, I am equipped to skillfully guide individuals and teams in cultivating mindfulness and compassion in their personal and professional lives through a variety of impactful programs and workshops.

Emotional Intelligence and Neuroscience

Drawn from my experiences in various leadership roles, where I was responsible for team and business performance, and as a mother, I have come to recognize the significance of neuroscience and emotional intelligence knowledge. Seeking to deepen my understanding and expand my toolkit, I pursued further education. In 2023, I successfully completed the Understanding the Brain: Using Neuroscience to Deliver Better Business Results certification program offered by the Wharton School. This program equipped me with valuable insights into the application of neuroscience in the business context. Additionally, my certification as an Emotional Intelligence Practitioner through Six Seconds has further empowered me to foster emotional intelligence in teams, workplaces, and individuals.
I believe in the transformative effect of practicing and learning together in a trusted space and to “make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler”.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

My Values

Generosity: For me a natural outcome of mindfulness and compassion is a desire to share with others. My work as a Coach, Mindfulness and Compassion Teacher and EQ Practitioner encompasses projects of social responsibility. I also share free articles, tips and practices will e-mail subscribers.

Compassion: My wish is for all living beings to be free from pain and to live with ease and joy. I keep the below quote by Albert Einstein in my heart.
“A human being is part of the whole called by us “Universe”, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

Community: I believe in the power of connection with ourselves and with all around us. Neuroscientists say “We are hardwired for social interaction”.
“We must all hang together; or we will all hang separately.”
Old Flemish Proverb

Learning: Curiosity, learning and sharing is part of me.
“If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.”
Zig Ziglar
